Youth Visioning Group Meeting Highlights

On Monday, December 5th, the Youth Visioning meeting took place at the Multicultural Center of Marin. The youth gathered to discuss important issues in Marin and posed the question, “What is it like for youth in Marin? Discuss positives and negatives”. This discussion brought up key points such as how while Marin is a close-knit community, the community itself is not as inclusive and supportive around the low-income population.

Afterward, the youth split up into their working groups which focused on either mental health / substance use, education, and equity. They discussed what it means to have support in these areas for Marin.

Within my equity work group, the youth talked about what equity means to them and how they want it to show up within their community. Many of them already take part in clubs and other working groups that focus on bringing equity to certain areas in Marin. For example, some participate in school clubs that focus on racial equity. While there wasn’t much time to discuss steps of action, the meeting established relationships with their fellow youth visioning members and adult allies. That said, we look forward to the next meeting to discuss any strategies, outreach, engagement, and promotion around these very important topics!

Our next Youth Visioning Workgroup Meeting will be in January 2023. If you are a youth in Marin (ages 9-25) or know someone who is interested in joining please reach out to Lauren Jacobson at Lauren.jacobson@bluepathhealth.com to learn more.
