Marin students present mental health research at conference

April 19, 2023

Members of a student team from Marin are presenting findings this week at a conference run by a Carmel-based nonprofit devoted to youth mental health awareness.

Lori Butterworth, CEO of AIM Youth Mental Health, the conference organizer, said the peer-to-peer research is helping educators and parents gain more insight into the impact of COVID-19 on youth mental health. Last year, the organization did a pilot study in Monterey County that had many of the same findings as in Marin.

“One thing the student researchers have found was that the relationship between the students and their teachers had severely diminished during COVID,” Butterworth said.
