Holocaust Remembrance Day

At Miller Creek Middle School. The community program will feature testimony from Anita, a Holocaust survivor who was born in 1936 in Emmen, a small town in northern Holland.  The Nazis invaded the Netherlands in 1940, and Anita and her 4 siblings were eventually sent into hiding, where they had to hide their Jewish identity to survive. After arriving in the United States in 1952, Anita went on to receive an MA from Harvard in Russian Studies and a PhD in Human Development.  She joined the JFCS William J. Lowenberg Speakers Bureau in 2019 and has since inspired thousands of students, teachers, and community members. The program will be introduced by Supervisor Mary Sackett (San Rafael) and City Council Member Rachel Kertz (San Rafael).
