Marin 9 to 25's Payer and Funder July Meeting Recap

Healthcare is an important part of any community, and it is of the utmost importance that children and young people have access to complete and high-quality care. In the pursuit of this goal, the Marin 9 to 25 Payer and Funder Workgroup is playing a pivotal role by convening a meeting that brings together experts and stakeholders. This blog post aims to provide an overview of the recent meeting, highlighting the key discussions and presentations that took place, all focused on advancing healthcare for children and youth in the region.

The meeting commenced with a presentation by Ashley Peel from Partnership HealthPlan. Ashley's expertise and passion for improving healthcare for children and youth shone through as she delivered an insightful overview of the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) initiative. The presentation emphasized the significance of CalAIM in transforming the Medi-Cal system to better serve the needs of vulnerable populations.

Ashley's focus on children and youth illuminated the measures being taken to enhance access to mental health services, provide preventive care, and address social determinants of health. Participants gained a better understanding of how CalAIM aims to improve health outcomes and the services available to young individuals, thus laying a strong foundation for healthier communities.

Following Ashley's presentation, Robby Franceschini from BluePath Health took the virtual stage to discuss the Data Exchange Framework and Funding Opportunities for Data Exchange. Data exchange plays a pivotal role in modern healthcare systems, allowing for streamlined communication, improved care coordination, and better decision-making.

Robby's presentation centered around the "Connecting for Better Health" (C4BH) vision, particularly focusing on the California Data Exchange Framework (DxF) and the integration of social services. Robby highlighted the Multi-Association Data Exchange Framework Education Initiative, an educational effort to inform various stakeholders about the DxF. Participants in this initiative include providers, health plans, health information organizations, consumer groups, and technology companies. The goal of this collaborative effort is to raise awareness and understanding of the DxF's potential benefits, fostering a shared commitment to its successful implementation. Through education, collaboration, and targeted funding opportunities, Robby's presentation demonstrated how the DxF will empower Californians and their care teams with the tools and insights needed to deliver seamless, high-quality, and affordable care.

The spotlight then shifted to Gabby Agar, representing Marin 9 to 25, who shared updates on the "Find Your Way" program. This initiative holds immense promise in connecting young individuals with vital healthcare resources, empowering them to take control of their well-being.

Gabby's presentation showcased the program's innovative approach, incorporating technology and community engagement to bridge gaps in resource access for children and youth. She shared about Find Your Way’s Youth Resource Guide which is available both online and print as well as their new scholarship opportunity! To learn more visit the Find Your Way page!
